Personal Profile

Maurice J. Mwale was born in a pastoral home, of a Pentecostal Assemblies of God pastor, the quiet village of Bunyore, nestled in the heart of western Kenya. Raised in a humble home, his early years were shaped by a strong sense of community, discipline, and a deep respect for tradition. Though not particularly religious in his youth, the seeds of purpose and leadership were sown early in his life.

He began his formal education in local schools, showing promise as a bright and curious student. However, driven by a desire for a better life and a sense that his destiny lay beyond the borders of his hometown, Maurice made the bold decision to move to Nairobi. Like many young men from rural areas, he came to the city in search of greener pastures—chasing opportunity, success, and the dream of a better future.

In Nairobi, he ventured into business and, through hard work and determination, achieved notable success. He became a respected entrepreneur, navigating the city’s competitive business landscape with resilience and savvy. But with success came temptation. Wealth, social circles, and the pressures of city life gradually pulled him into the grip of alcoholism. The very life he had worked so hard to build began to crumble beneath the weight of addiction and personal struggle.

His turning point came through a harrowing near-death experience—one that would change the course of his life forever. Rescued by strangers and brought back from the brink, Maurice returned home shaken and searching for answers. At his doorstep, he found two preachers waiting—men he had never met before—who told him they had come to pray with him. That moment felt divinely orchestrated, and it marked the beginning of a profound spiritual awakening.

From that day on, Maurice began to pursue a relationship with God in earnest. He committed himself to Christian living, faithfully attending church and serving in various ministries. For years, he lived what many would consider a “normal” Christian life—devoted but without a clear personal calling. That all changed when he encountered the teachings of Joe Kayo, a renowned preacher known for his deep, revelatory understanding of the gospel. This meeting was nothing short of transformative. It was at Joe Kayo's that Maurice was to be introduced to the idea of salvation by grace only, through faith alone in Christ alone, a message that mersmerized him.

Joe Kayo’s message ignited a fire in Maurice. He began to study the Word of God with fresh eyes and a hungry heart—devouring books, listening to teachings, and spending hours in personal meditation. His home became his seminary. Even without formal theological training, his grasp of scripture deepened, and a new clarity began to emerge—a vision for ministry grounded in grace, truth, and the power of revelation. Maurice would devote the rest of his life, learning and preaching the gospel of grace as revealed in Scripture.

In what started as a simple Bible study during weekday lunch hours, Maurice began gathering a small group in Nairobi to discuss scripture and pray. What was remarkable was that this group quickly attracted senior clergy and mature believers, drawn not just by the teaching, but by the weight of spiritual authority they sensed in Maurice—though he had never been ordained at the time.

As the midday fellowship grew in impact and attendance, it became clear that God was calling him to more. in 2006 he launched a Sunday fellowship that steadily blossomed into what is today known as Grace Covenant Church, registered with the register of societies—a vibrant, growing congregation rooted in the transformative power of the Word and the ministry of the Holy Spirit.

Grace Covenant Church has since become a place of healing, teaching, and restoration for many. Through his leadership, Pastor Maurice continues to challenge religious norms, emphasizing deep discipleship, personal revelation, and a return to authentic, Spirit-led Christianity.

Maurice J. Mwale is more than a pastor; he calls himself a pastor-teacher, he is a testimony of God's redemptive power—a man who was brought back from the edge and commissioned for purpose. He is married to Constance, a steadfast partner in life and ministry. Together, they are blessed with three wonderful children: Laurine, Rooney, and Prince.

Their story is one of faith, family, and divine calling—a reminder that no one is ever too far gone for God's grace, and that true purpose often lies on the other side of brokenness.

WAIT, KENYA! WAIT, PATIENTLY, FOR THE DELIVERANCE OF THE LORD!

Though darkness is always a sign of judgment upon the people which it overtakes, it does not last forever. The eclipse of the Son is always a momentary and not a permanent cause of darkness. Nothing and no one has the power and authority to totally dim the Light of the world from shining upon the occupants of the world. We know with such unalterable certainty that, regardless of how long it may take, light will definitely dispel darkness

The divine wisdom has necessitated it that the leadership of every nation, on planet Earth, should come from amongst the citizens of the same nation. More often than not, the leadership reveals the prevailing mindset and spiritual status of the populace. The human democratic system, periodically, provides people of every nation with the opportunity and privilege to reset the trajectory of their lives. It is during such times when men and women bring to the fore the hidden natures of their hearts by enthroning personalities of their very own representation.

The dark clouds that are gathering over Kenya can never be conquered by the many more dark clouds that are gathering in the hearts of men . It is only the Light of the world who has the Omnipotent capacity and will to dispel the darkness that continues to spread like cancer whose sole purpose is to overwhelm the whole nation. Yet again, such schemes have never succeeded and shall never succeed. We all know, by experience, that walking in the dark can be a source of unbearable fear and actual danger! We also know that fear does not come from God but from the king of darkness, Satan.

Though the atmosphere is filled with the painful gnashing of teeth and the screams from our sons and daughters as they get fell down by the bullets, this shall not last forever. There is no shadow of doubt that the nation of Kenya will surmount this vicious aggression from the forces of hell. Kenya has a glorious future! There shall ultimately be light in every nuke and cranny of our national fabric! We shall definitely overcome through Him who is all able! Wait, Kenya! Wait, patiently, for the deliverance of the Lord!

Psalm 30:4-5 "Sing to the Lord, O you saints of His, and give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name. For His anger is but for a moment, but His favour is for a lifetime or in His favour is life. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning."

2 Corinthians 4:16-17 "Therefore we do not become discouraged (utterly spiritless, exhausted, and wearied out through fear). Though our outer man is [progressively] decaying and wasting away, yet our inner self is being [progressively] renewed day after day. For our light, momentary affliction (this slight distress of the passing hour) is ever more and more abundantly preparing and producing and achieving for us an everlasting weight of glory [beyond all measure, excessively surpassing all comparisons and all calculations, a vast and transcendent glory and blessedness never to cease!],"
