Grace Covenant Church (GCC) was planted on 1st of October 2006 by Pastor Maurice J. Mwale, in response to the call of God into church ministry, in Umoja Innercore Estate, along Moi Drive, opposite the Umoja II Chief’s office, Nairobi, Kenya.
After much study of the word of God, like Martin Lurther, it dawned to Mwale that salvation is by grace along, through faith alone in Christ alone. While very clearly stated in the Bible such as Ephesians 2:8, Titus 2:11 and Romans 3:24, 5:1, the church seem to be stuck in the preaching of the law as a means of salvation. Maurice felt the call of God to preach the revelation of the grace of God as stated by Paul in his letter to Titus.
Over the years, through the Grace for Tranformation a teaching outreach minstry of Grace Covenant Church, Mwale has circumvented the nation of Kenya and beyond preaching salvation that is by grace alone through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone.
While planting churches was not the original intention of the ministry, it became apparent that constant discipling of those willing to abandon the preaching of the law as a means of salvation was neccesary. So began the process of mentoring pastors and churches that had believed in the message of salvation through grace. Many other churches have since been planted through the many outreaches that have happened since.
Currently Grace Covenant Church has 31 churches across the country and runs a bible training program, Charis Bible Training Institute that has campuses in Kenya and Uganda and soon expanding in Tanzania, Rwanda and Sudan.
